Marie-Ernestine Compain (née Mauboussin; 23 October 1865 – 4 September 1975) was a French centenarian who held the title of oldest living person in France.

Biography[]

Marie-Ernestine Compain was born in Mulsanne, Sarthe, Pays de la Loire, France on 23 October 1865. Her father was Auguste Mauboussin, and her mother was Anne Geslin.

On 18 April 1890, she married Henri Eugène Compain in the village she was born in. Following the death of 111-year-old Laurence Entiope on 7 April 1974, she became the oldest living person in France.

Marie-Ernestine Compain died in Ecommoy, Sarthe, Pays de la Loire, France on 4 September 1975, at the age of 109 years, 316 days. She was the last surviving French person born in the year 1865. After her death, Marie-Virginie Duhem became the oldest living French person.
