Marie-Reine Aimee Sylvestre (née Cecilia-Joseph; 6 September 1907 – 6 May 2019) was a French supercentenarian born in Martinique whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2020.
Biography[]
Marie-Reine Sylvestre was born as Marie-Reine Cécilia-Joseph in Le Francois, Martinique, France, on 6 September 1907. At some point in her life, she married a man with the surname Sylvestre and emigrated to metropolitan France, settling in the commune of Les Ulis, around 23 kilometres (14 miles) from the centre of Paris.
Marie-Reine Sylvestre died in Les Ulis, Essonne, Ile-de-France, France, on 6 May 2019 at the age of 111 years, 242 days. She was the second-oldest person born in Martinique behind Julie Montabord as well as being among the top 15 oldest people in France. She was also the second-oldest living person in Ile-de-France, behind Madeleine Desert.
