Marie Edmee Dhauyre (née Massias; 27 October 1906 – 11 March 2018) was a French supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2020.
Biography
Marie Dhauyre was born as Marie Massias in Lot-et-Garonne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France on 27 October 1906. She was a teacher by profession.
Dhauyre moved to Africa to marry her husband, who left France and settled in Tunisia, employed by the oil company Shell, in 1933. She worked at the French school in Tunisia for 13 years.
In 1946, the couple finally decided to return to France to settle near the place where they met when they were young. She never learned how to drive so she used a bicycle instead, and cycled up to the age of 96.
Marie Dhauyre died in Ares, Gironde, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France on 11 March 2018, at the age of 111 years, 135 days.
