Marie Celine Maisonniaux [French: Céline] (née Lafaye; 26 October 1876 – 17 June 1987) was a French supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Marie Maisonniaux was born as Marie Lafaye in Saint-Eloi, Creuse, Limousin (now Nouvelle-Aquitaine), France on 23 October 1865. Her parents were Leonard Lafaye and Rosalie Jouannaud. When she was a child, her family went to midnight office at church for Christmas. They ate what they had.
Maisonniaux started to work at age 14. She took care of an farm (for example, she protected sheeps). On 13 February 1897, aged 20, she married Antoine Maisonniaux in the village she was born in. Her son was injured during World War I; he lost the use of an arm.
Marie Maisonniaux died on 17 June 1987 in Langladure-Masbriaud, Creuse, Limousin (now Nouvelle-Aquitaine), France. She was the fourth-oldest living person in France at the time of her death, behind Jeanne Calment, Lydie Vellard, and Marie-Louise Jeancard.
