Marie Monet (25 July 1904 – 24 January 2015) was a Brazilian supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2023.
Biography[]
Marie Monet was born in Sao Paulo City, Sao Paulo State, Brazil on 25 July 1904. Her father moved from France to Brazil in 1890 to work in the glass industry.
In addition to her native French and Portuguese, she also could speak Spanish and Italian. She was asked in marriage many times, but never married.
In January 2008, she was reported as the oldest living person with French ancestry in Brazil. In July 2014, she celebrated her 110th birthday.
In December 2014, she was visited by French Foreign Affairs Consul General Marie-Christine Lang, and was presented with some gifts.
Monet died in Sao Paulo City, Sao Paulo State, Brazil on 24 January 2015 at the age of 110 years, 183 days.
