Marie Smejkalova [Czech: Marie Smejkalová] (12 September 1903 – 26 January 2011) was a Czech centenarian who was the oldest known living person in the Czech Republic at the time of her death.

Biography[]

Marie Smejkalová was born in Kroměříž, Zlín Region, Austria-Hungary (now Czech Republic), on 12 September 1903. She remained loyal to her native Kroměříž, and lived her entire life in a single-storey house adjacent to a factory building. Her family had a shoe factory there until shortly after World War II. After nationalization in 1948, she worked there as a worker.

On 5 October 2010, following the death of 107-year-old Juliana Vašíčková, she became the oldest known living person in the Czech Republic.

Marie Smejkalová died in Kroměříž, Zlín Region, Czech Republic, on 26 January 2011, at the age of 107 years, 136 days. Following her death, then 107-year-old Františka Kožnarová became the oldest known living person in the Czech Republic.
