Marie Jeanne d'Evergroote [original Dutch spelling: Joanna Maria d'Evergroet] (18 October 1783 – 14 March 1892) was a Belgian centenarian who, at the time of her death, was the oldest known person ever.
Biography
Joana Maria d'Evegroet was born on 18 October 1783 in Aubel, Austrian Netherlands (present-day Belgium), to Laurentius d'Evegroet and Maria Josepha Daelem. The family name has various spellings, but d'Evergroote is the one used on her death certificate. She never married nor had children.
Marie d'Evergroote became the oldest living person on Europe on 24 October 1888, following the death of 105-year-old Willem van Renterghem. She died on 14 March 1892, at the age of 108 years, 148 days. Her successor as the oldest person in Europe was Lavina Hansdatter.
