Biography[]

Mark Behrends grew up on his family's farm in eastern Nebraska. He married Irene Schreiner in 1930, and the couple had 7 children.[1]

The family lived on the farm until 1967, when they moved to Nebraska City.[1] Irene died in 1983, and Behrends lived alone, independently, until the age of 106.[2] He was also able to renew his driving license at the age of 106, and drove for a while after that.

Behrends died in Nebraska, United States on 13 June 2015, at the age of 110 years, 28 days. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living person in Nebraska, as well as the second-oldest man ever who died in Nebraska, behind Luther Goding.[2]
