Marta Herminia Canevaro Luza was born in Iquique, Chile on 29 July 1889, to parents Miguel Canevaro and María Luza. She married Enrique Augusto Rauld Echenique and had three children: Emma, Miguel, and Rodolfo.
In 1989, at the age of 100, she appeared on a Chilean talk show, where she was interviewed and played the piano.
In 1999, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming the earliest (known) Chilean supercentenarian.
Marta Herminia Canevaro Luza died in Santiago, Chile, on 13 April 2001, aged 111 years, 238 days.
