Marthe Roch (née Roussas; 19 August 1907 – 21 September 2020) was a French supercentenarian from the overseas department of Guadeloupe whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of her death, she was the oldest known living person in Guadeloupe. She is the oldest validated person from Guadeloupe.

Biography[]

Marthe Roch was born in Boisvin, Les Abymes, Guadeloupe on 19 August 1907. She and her husband worked in the fields and on market stalls. They had 12 children (six girls and six boys). In August 2019, she was reported to have around 210 descendants.

On 5 October 2019, at the age of 112 years, 47 days, Roch surpassed the age of Mathilde Octavie Tafna, becoming the oldest person who ever lived in Guadeloupe. Her age was verified by Guillaume Legris, and validated (posthumously) by the Gerontology Research Group on 27 August 2021.

On her 113th birthday in August 2020, Roch was awarded an honorary diploma by the local council.

Roch died in Bazin, Les Abymes, Guadeloupe on 21 September 2020 at the age of 113 years, 33 days. At the time of her death, she was the eight-oldest living person in France.
