Martin Dressel (12 January 1903 − 18 May 2011) was a German centenarian who was thought to be Germany's oldest living man at the time of his death.
Biography[]
Dressel was born in Nuremberg in 1903. He married his wife Alma in 1935 and they had five children. At the time of Martin's death, he had nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Martin and Alma lived in a 2-room apartment. They shortly lived in Australia for a few months before moving bact to Nuremberg. Alma died in 1998.
Dressel worked as a toolmaker and electrical installer. He suffered a fall a few years before his death and moved into a nursing home 3 months before he died. Dressel became the oldest living man in Germany on 23 February 2011 when Friedrich Volmer died. Dressel died nearly three months later, and Paul Veit succeeded him.
