Martin Eichel (13 July 1907 – 18 September 2017) was a German supercentenarian who was, at the time of his death, the second-oldest known living man in Germany, behind Gustav Gerneth. His age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography
Martin Eichel was born in Schauenburg-Breitenbach, Germany on 13 July 1907. When he was seven, his father died. At the age of 14, he moved in with his aunt and uncle.
During the World War II, he worked for the Air-Defence. He married in 1942. His son Norbert was born in 1945. He travelled until the age of 100 and still played the piano.
At the time of his death, he lived in a senior home. Eichel died in Kassel, Hesse, Germany on 18 September 2017 at the age of 110 years, 67 days.
