Mary Ann Essery (née Brewer; 14 July 1875 – 4 January 1986) was a British-Canadian supercentenarian whose age is currently pending validation by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Mary Ann Essery was born as Mary Ann "Ada" Brewer in Peckham, Surrey, England, UK on 14 July 1875. Her parents were George William Brewer and Mary Ann Toney. At some point in her life, she moved to British Columbia, Canada. She married Samuel John Essery (1869–1949). She later became the oldest living person in Canada from the death of Emma Bingham on 25 November 1985 until her death nearly 2 months later. She was also the last surviving person in Canada born in 1885. After her death Clara Robertson became the oldest living person in Canada.
Mary Ann Essery died in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on 4 January 1986 at the age of 110 years, 174 days.
