Mary Belle McCaleb (née Schnautz; 6 September 1900 – 26 November 2011) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Mary Belle McCaleb was born as Mary Belle Schnautz in Cedar Valley, Travis County, Texas, United States on 6 September 1900. Her parents were William Charles Schnautz and Sarah Elizabeth Williams. She married Laban White McCaleb in 1944. They did not have any children.

McCaleb studied bookkeeping for two years at Nixon and Clay College in Texas. She lived and worked in New York, Washington and Texas before her husband's death in 1973 in Vinita, Oklahoma. She then lived with her sister and mother, in Round Rock, Texas, taking care of them until her mother's death at 103 in 1980. Her sister was also lived to age of 102.

McCaleb entered the Oklahoma Masonic Home in Guthrie, Oklahoma on 29 July 1980. She participated in every activity at the Home, as well as the local First Baptist Church. She liked to sew and make crafts, and sell the items to visitors to the Home. After the Masonic Home closed in 2000, she transferred to Colonial Estate Nursing Home in Guthrie in January 2001, at the age of 100. She remained a resident there until her death.

Mary Belle McCaleb died in Guthrie, Logan County, Oklahoma, United States on 26 November 2011, at the age of 111 years, 81 days.

McCaleb's age was verified by Anson Davis and Mark Muir, and (posthumously) validated by the GRG on 10 February 2016.
