Mary Charlotte Blount (née Garnes; 10 August 1912 – 5 April 2020) was an American centenarian.

Biography[]

Mary Blount was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, USA on 10 August 1912. She lost her mother during childhood. Her father moved the family to North Little Rock when she was a schoolgirl.

She married twice and worked for a time in the state finance department at the Arkansas Capitol to support her two children: Arden Powell Andrews (1936–2018) and Ada Patricia Andrews (deceased). The daughter was a special-needs child born with Down syndrome.

After the death of her second husband, Aubrey Blount, in 1982, she lived alone in her Capitol View neighborhood home for two decades, until she was age 91.

She lived at Briarwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mary Blount died in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA on 5 April 2020 at the age of 107 years, 239 days. It is suspected that she died after contracting COVID-19. If confirmed, she would be one of the oldest victims of the COVID-19 pandemic.
