Mary Brizzi (12 September 1910 – 17 January 2021) was an Italian supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2020. At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest known living person in Lazio, behind Maria Antonia D’Amore.
Biography[]
Brizzi was born in Ascoli Piceno, Marche, Italy on 12 September 1910, into a poor family. At a young age, she married a roman merchant. She had at least two children, Vincenzo and Clotilde Mancini. The secret of her longevity was reported to be light meals, no smoking, and no stress.
COVID-19 Survival[]
On 21 May 2020, at the age of 109, Brizzi tested positive for COVID-19 during the coronavirus pandemic. By 4 June 2020, she was tested negative, meaning that she had successfully recovered from the virus. In September 2020, she celebrated her 110th birthday.
Brizzi died peacefully on the morning of 17 January 2021, in the RSA Longoni, in Rome, Lazio, Italy, at the age of 110 years, 127 days.
