Mary Belle Whiffen Crombie (neé Murphy; 6 July 1890 – 22 September 2003) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography
She and her sister Mabel were born in Illinois, USA, on 6 July 1890. Her parents were James Murphy and Sara (née Moore) Murphy. She had other eight siblings.
She graduated from the Battle Creek Sanitarium and Hospital Training School in Battle Creek, Michigan, on 29 September 1916.
She married Charles Crombie. The couple had at least two children: Ruth (born c.1919), and James (born c.1927). She was widowed in 1971.
She was the oldest twin on record though not the oldest pair, because her twin-sister Mabel McDermott died in 1984 at the age of 94.
Crombie died in Illinois, USA on 22 September 2003 at the age of 113 years, 78 days.
