Mary Kathryn Denny (née Bissler; 10 June 1910 – 28 September 2021) was an American supercentenarian who was the oldest known person in the U.S. state of Ohio at the time of her death. Her age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2021.
Biography[]
Denny was born in a log cabin east of the Suffield Elementary School on Waterloo Road, Suffield, Ohio, United States, on 10 June 1910. She was born as the seventh and youngest child of Joseph Bissler and Mary K. Kehner. She attended the old Suffield Elementary School. After that, she went to St. Joseph School for two years, walking three miles one way to school. Later she attended and graduated from Suffield High School (1924–1928).
In 1938, she married Russell S. Denny (1906–1995). The couple had no children. She voluntarily gave up driving at the age of 93 and lived in her Suffield home until the age of 101, when she decided to move to the Gables of KentRidge in Kent in the spring of 2012.
Denny died in Hartville, Ohio, United States on 28 September 2021 at the age of 111 years, 110 days.
