Mary Johnson (7 April 1908 – 12 January 2020) was an American supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography
Mary Johnson was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on 7 April 1908 to Thomas and Gertrude (Sanders) Johnson. She was one of three children. Her family moved to Los Angeles, California when she was 13. She worked as a nanny and caretaker for many years, before moving to Kansas City, Missouri (where her sister lived) in 1971. She had no children.
Johnson lived in Kansas City, where she became a supercentenarian in April 2018. She reportedly showed signs of dementia and had lost much of her hearing, but was otherwise in good physical health and successfully underwent hip surgery in her centenarian years. She registered to vote for the first time at the age of 108, and voted in the 2016 presidential election.
Mary Johnson died in Kansas City, Missouri, USA on 12 January 2020 at the age of 111 years, 280 days.
