Mary Lou Giles (née Crane; 20 April 1913 – 31 August 2023) was an American supercentenarian who was one of the oldest living people in the state of Virginia at the time of her death. Her age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Mary Lou Giles was born in Dry Fork, Pittsylvania County, Virginia, USA on 20 April 1913 to Phil Grasty and Nellie Ruth (née Stowe) Crane. She married Leeland Samuel Giles in August 1932. The couple had four children, 3 sons and a daughter. Her husband died in April 1990.
In April 2023, Giles celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.
Mary Lou Giles died in Poquoson, Virginia, USA on 31 August 2023 at the age of 110 years, 133 days. At the time of her death, she was survived by her daughter, Dale, and one son, Ronald.
