Mary Maiurino (née Giannuzzi; 24 October 1907 – 20 November 2019) was an American supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2024.
Biography[]
Maiurino was born in Syracuse, New York, United States, on 24 October 1907 (claimed 28 October). Her parents were Italian immigrants, Antonio Giannuzzi (1876–1950) and Maddalena Giannuzzi (1883–1947). She had at least 6 siblings: Margaret Ross, Dorothy Paduano (1906-2005), Frank (1911-1974), Angelo (1913–1976), Victor (1915–2008) and Jack Giannuzzi (1917-1986). She was a life resident of Central New York. Maiurino was a member of the first graduating class from Prescott School and was later employed by Learbury's.
In 1934, she married Anthony Maiurino (1908–1964). The couple had at least two children, Anthony S. (1937–2008) and Jeanella VanAlstyne.
Maiurino died in Fayetteville, Onondaga County, New York, United States, on 20 November 2019, at the age of 112 years, 27 days.
