Mary Ann Sorenson (née Hart; 26 November 1881 – 27 July 1995) was an American supercentenarian who was the oldest person ever born in the state of New York at the time of her death. She is also the oldest person ever to live in Vermont state. Her age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography
Mary Sorenson was born as Mary Ann Hart in Schenectady, New York on 26 November 1881. Her parents were Christopher and Elizabeth (née Kaley) Hart. She married the Norwegian immigrant Carl Sorenson and had two children: Edward and Elizabeth.
The family lived in Schenectady, New York and Mary moved to Florida following the death of Carl in 1941. She later moved to Chittenden, Vermont and died there on 27 July 1995 at the age of 113 years, 243 days.
