Masayo Ogawara [Japanese: 小川原まさよ] (2 August 1901 – 2 April 2013) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Masayo Ogawara born in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan on 2 August 1901.
Following the death of 111-year-old Miwa Sugisawa on 3 October 2011, she became the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture. Her age was verified by Anson Davis and Japan's MHLW, and validated by the GRG on 3 December 2011.
Masayo Ogawara died in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan on 2 April 2013 at the age of 111 years, 243 days. She died on the same day as Italian supercentenarian Maria Redaelli (who died a day shy of her 114th birthday). Following her death, 111-year-old man Jokichi Ikarashi became the oldest living person in Niigata Prefecture.
