Longevity claimant |
Masoko Lebea (5 July 1899? – fl.13 July 2021) was a South African longevity claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Guinness World Records (GWR).
Biography[]
Masoko Lebea claims to have been born on 5 July 1899 in South Africa. She had four children (the oldest being Josephina Lebea), who gave her 14 grandchildren.
In July 2021, Lebea went to Kgapane Hospital in Modjadjiskloof, Limpopo to register for COVID-19 vaccination. However, the registration system rejected her, because she claimed to be born before 1900 (the system assumed she was born in 1999). She was sent back home.
On 8 July 2021, Lebea was finally vaccinated against COVID-19 at home by a Member of the Executive Council for Health, Phophi Ramathuba.
Masoko Lebea was last reported to be alive in Tsatsa Village, near Tzaneen, Limpopo, South Africa on 13 July 2021, at the claimed age of 122 years, 8 days. If her claimed age were validated, she would be the oldest living person in the world, being older than Kane Tanaka for nearly three and half years.
