Matilda Coppins was born on 11 October 1842 in England, UK. She became the oldest living person in the UK on 19 March 1948, following the death of 107-year-old Elizabeth Sellwood. At 105 years, 160 days, she was the youngest to do so since Ann Russell in 1929.
Coppins was filmed on her 108th birthday for her longevity. Coppins died on 22 December 1951 at the age of 109 years, 72 days in a Salvation Army home in St Leonards-on-Sea (part of Hastings), England, UK.
