Meta Clara "Mattie" Bongs (19 August 1903 – 25 June 2014) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Meta Bongs was born in Raymond, Minnesota, USA on 19 August 1903 to William and Augusta (née Barbhnecht) Bongs.
For the majority of her life, Bongs lived in Elyria, Ohio, USA. She worked in the storage room of Woolworths (now Best Buy in Midway Mall) until retiring in 1967.
Bongs was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Elyria, where she had been a member for over 90 years. She was also in the ladies aid of the church. Some of her hobbies included crocheting and tatting.
Meta Bongs died in Willard, Ohio, USA on 25 June 2014 at the age of 110 years, 310 days. She was survived by six nieces and nephews, as well as many great, great-great, and great-great-great-nieces and nephews. She also outlived nine brothers and sisters.
