Mildred "Milly" Cienke Skjordahl (10 July 1913 – 1 January/19 May 2024) was an American supercentenarian who was among the oldest known living people in the U.S. state of Arizona at the time of her death. Her age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Milly Skjordahl was born in Hammond, Indiana, USA on 10 July 1913 (claims 16 June). She married in 1938 and had two sons.

Skjordahl attended Schurz High School in Illinois and graduated at the age of 16. She did not attend college as her family lacked the money for her to do so, and was already at risk of losing their home. Following her graduation, Skjordahl got a job at Arnold Schwinn & Co. (a bicycle manufacturing company). While working at the company, she met Ignaz Schwinn, the company's founder.

Skjordahl also worked at the National Tea Company, a former grocery chain. In this job, she was paid twenty-five cents an hour.

Skjordahl has been an avid drawer and painter since her youth. She began ballroom dancing at the age of 70.

Skjordahl credits her longevity to hard work. She also abstains from drinking alcohol and smoking.

Skjordahl celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian on 10 July 2023.

She is in an obituary of her nephew, stating that she passed away at the age of 110, but does not give the exact date of her birth.

Milly Skjordahl died in Tucson, Arizona, USA, between 1 January and 19 May 2024, at the age of at least 110 years, 175 days (claimed at least 110 years, 199 days).
