Milo B. Gibbons (18 July 1882 – 1 July 1992) was an American centenarian who was among the oldest known living men in the United States at the time of his death.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Milo Gibbons was born to Elijah and Martha Ann Gibbons in Saline County, Illinois, USA on 18 July 1882. He was married to Lura Milligan.
Gibbons, along with his wife and children, later moved to Roxana, Illinois, where he became employee at the Shell Oil Refinery. In 1943, he was forced to retire due to a bad heart.
Later Life and Death[]
Some time after his retirement from Shell, Gibbons and his wife divorced. He later worked as a farmer until around 1960.
In his later years, Gibbons was still able to sing. He attributed his longevity to smiling and laughing. He died in Alhambra, Illinois, USA on 1 July 1992 at the age of 109 years, 349 days, just 17 days short of his 110th birthday.
