Miriam Carpelan (née Cowper) (8 July 1882 — 22 June 1996) was a British-American supercentenarian.
Biography[]
Miriam Cowper was born in Liverpool, England on 8 July 1882 as the daughter of William and Miriam Richards Cowper. She grew up in the area and worked as a servant before emigrating to the United States in 1908. She married Finnish immigrant Carl Harry Carpelan and settled in Monterey, California. The couple did not have any known children. Carl Carpelan died in 1967.
Miriam Carpelan died in Mendocino, California on 22 June 1996, aged 113 years, 350 days.
