Mitsue Tanobe [Japanese: 田野邉ミツエ] (16 March 1910 – fl.1 March 2022) was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Mitsue Tanobe was born in Japan on 16 March 1910. She witnessed the 1914 Taisho eruption of Sakurajima volcano. At the age of 100, she reportedly liked watching Korean dramas.

In March 2020, Tanobe celebrated her 110th birthday. Following the death of Shimi Kushiyama around 20 March 2021, she became the oldest living person in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan.

Mitsue Tanobe was last known to be alive on 1 March 2022 at the age of 111 years, 350 days. At that time, she lived in Kanoya, Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan.[citation needed]
