Miyae Nishiyama [Japanese: 西山宮枝] 10 January 1896 – 16 January 2008 was a Japanese supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Miyae Nishiyama was born in Japan on 10 January 1896.

Following the death of 109-year-old Hiromi Minakata of Wakayama City on 30 November 2005, Nishiyama became the oldest known living person in Wakayama Prefecture.

In January 2006, Nishiyama celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.

Nishiyama's age was verified by Japan's MHLW, Ken Matsuoka, and Robert Young, and validated by the GRG on 22 November 2006.

During her last years, Nishiyama resided at a long-term care health facility in Kimino. She still enjoyed participating in karaoke and similar events, and would sometimes make jokes.

Miyae Nishiyama died in Kimino, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan on 16 January 2008 at the age of 112 years, 6 days.
