Molly Madden (née Keane; 9 December 1906 – 16 January 2016) was an Irish centenarian noted for being the oldest living person in Ireland.[1][2][3]

Biography

Molly Madden was born as Molly Keane in Galway, Ireland (then part of the UK) on 8 December 1906. She moved with her family at the age of three to the village of Kincon in north Mayo. She later moved to Ballycastle for work and married local man Pat Madden and lived in the seaside village until shortly before her 100th birthday. She lived in the Moy Ridge Nursing Home in Ballina. She became the oldest person in Ireland on 20 December 2014, then aged 108, following the death of 109-year-old Margaret O'Connell.

Molly Madden died in Mayo, Ireland, on 16 January 2016, at the age of 109 years, 38 days. She was succeeded as Ireland's oldest person by 107-year-old Nora Canavan.
