Moon Dae-jeon [Korean: 문대전] (7 June 1909? – 13 May 2021) was a South Korean supercentenarian whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Moon Dae-jeon claimed to have been born on 7 June 1909 (according to her ID card) in Jangheung County, South Jeolla Province, Korean Empire (now South Korea; it was then a Japanese protectorate).

At age 43, Moon married a 50-year-old man. She gave birth to a son at age 44, but he died when he was a child. At age 53, Moon gave birth to Jeong Won-bok [Korean: 정원복] (aged 59 in 2020). Her husband died around 1976, when Jeong was in 2nd year of middle school.

Moon lived in Yeongcheon, Gyeongbuk Province with her son, before moving to Daegu in 1980. Since age 100, she suffered from dementia. His son increased walks frequency, and since then, her dementia weakend. On 1 January 2017, she climbed Obongsan mountain with her son. She reportedly voted in the 2017 South Korean presidential election, and was reported as the oldest voter in Daegu.

On 13 June 2018, Moon voted for the 7th South Korean local elections with her son in Munseong primary school, in Bokhyeon 2-dong.

On 15 April 2020, Moon voted for the South Korean legislative elections with her son in Daegu Munseong primary school, in Bokhyeon 2-dong.

Moon Dae-jeon died in Bokhyeon 2-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu, South Korea on 13 May 2021 at the claimed age of 111 years, 340 days.
