Natalia Villanueva Ruiz (24 February 1911 – 21 December 2023) was a Colombian supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).

Biography[]

Natalia Villanueva Ruiz was born in Raquira, Boyaca, Colombia on 24 February 1911. Her parents were Heleodoro Villanueva Florez and Umbelina Ruiz Ruiz. She only had one sibling, a sister named Lucinda, who had one son, Roman, Natalia's only nephew, who died aged 45 in 1972. Villanueva Ruiz never married nor had children. She worked as an elementary school teacher. Later in her life, she moved to Bogota and became an Haute Couture seamstress, a job in which she had a lot of success. In her late years, due to her old age, she moved to Medellin, where her cousin lived.

At the age of 106, Villanueva Ruiz moved to a nursing home in Copacaba, Metropolitan area of Meddelin. A report for her was made that year, and she was reported as being "impressive", as she was extremely independent for her age. She lived in the nursing home of Hogar Benjamin Correa.

In February 2021, she celebrated her 110th birthday and became a supercentenarian.

Natalia Villanueva Ruiz died in Copacabana, Antioquia, Colombia on 21 December 2023 at the age of 112 years, 300 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest known living woman in the metropolitan area of Medellin, and the second-oldest person in the metropolitan area of Medellin (behind Efrain Antonio Rios Garcia).
