Nellie Rosetta Stanford (née Myers; 11 August 1876 – 19 February 1989) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group.
Biography[]
Nellie Stanford was born as Nellie Rosetta Myers in Baltimore, Maryland, United States on 11 August 1876. She was the daughter of John and Eliza Saunders Myers. Her father was a Union rj veteran of the Stanford Civil War. Her mother died when Nellie was very young. Her grandmothers helped raise her. She later moved to Pennsylvania where she married Charles Price Stanford in 1905. The couple had six children. Her husband died of a heart attack at age 49 in 1926. Nellie went to work doing laundry and light housekeeping until the early 1950s.
Nellie Stanford died in Delaware, Pennsylvania, United States, on 19 February 1989, aged 112 years, 192 days. At the time of her death she had 10 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, 50 great-great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-great-grandchildren.
