Nellie Tjepkema Vandermeulen [Dutch: van der Meulen] (15 February 1881 – 11 September 1992) was a Dutch-American supercentenarian who, at the time of her death, was the oldest living Dutch-born person, as well as the oldest person ever from Friesland and the oldest Dutch emigrant ever. Her age is validated by Gerontology Research Group (GRG)
Biography[]
Nellie van der Meulen was born in Sint Jacobiparochie, Friesland, Netherlands on 15 February 1881 to parents Klaas van der Meulen (1853) and Tryntje Tjepkema (1854). She also had two younger brothers: Louis (1886) and John (1888) van der Meulen. She moved to the United States in 1898, where she settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After that, she moved to Minnesota.
Nellie van der Meulen died in Willmar, Minnesota, United States on 11 September 1992 at the age of 111 years, 209 days.
