Ng Ler Neo (24 September 1892 – 14 June 1995) was a Singaporean centenarian.
Biography[]
Ng Ler Neo was born on 24 September 1892.
She married at 17, and married a bus driver who passed away at the age of 52.
She enjoyed daily walks, food and watching wrestling matches and Chinese serials on television. She had sorghum and rice wine with herbs everyday since she was in her 20s. She is also very fond of durians.
She exercised every morning and evening, taking a 20-minute stroll in the garden.
In October 1993, aged 101, Ng fell and broke her hip. She had a steel plate inserted into her hip and recovered, but now required the aid of a walking frame.
She had remarkable memory and could remember her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's birthdays and would give them a hongbao (monetary gift in a red packet).
Ng Ler Neo passed away on 14 June 1995 in Angora Close, South Region, Singapore at the age of 102 years, 263 days, as she was about to take a nap after lunch. She is survived by four children, 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
