Nicanora Sosa viuda de Lopez [Spanish: López] (7 January 1900?/1908 – 11 April 2013) was a Paraguayan supercentenarian claimant whose age is currently unvalidated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). If her age is true, she could be the second-oldest known person ever born in Paraguay, after 115-year-old Casilda Benegas, who died in Argentina (and whose age is validated by the GRG).

Biography[]

Nicanora Sosa de Lopez claimed to have been born in Caraguatay, Cordillera, Paraguay on 7 January 1900, although her relatives celebrated her birthday on 10 January. However, her identity card and other documents say she was born in 1908.[1] She had 10 children.

In January 2013, she celebrated her claimed 113th birthday.

Nicanora Sosa viuda de Lopez died in Ciudad del Este, Alto Parana, Paraguay on 11 April 2013 at the claimed age of 113 years, 94 days. At the time of her death, she had 80 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
