Nicolae Dumitrescu (1 March 1904 – 12 September 2011) was a Romanian centenarian and World War II veteran who was the oldest known living man in Romania at the time of his death.
Biography[]
Nicolae Dumitrescu was born in the vicinity of Bucharest, Romania on 1 March 1904. He never married or had children. During World War II, he fought on the Odessa front.
Table tennis was his favorite sport. After officially "retiring", he formed two table tennis teams, teams with which he still played even at 101 years.
He became the oldest known living man in Romania, following the death of 107-year-old Marton Mihaly on 10 December 2010.
Nicolae Dumitrescu died in Bucharest, Romania on 12 September 2011 at the age of 107 years, 195 days. Following his death, then 106-year-old Nicolae Pasculescu became the oldest known living man in Romania.
