Nikola Barkovic [Croatian: Barković] (4 October 1909 – 4 May 2016) was a Croatian centenarian who was the oldest known living man in Croatia at the time of his death.

Biography[]

Nikola Barkovic was born in the village of Barkovic, Karlovac County, Austria-Hungary (present-day Croatia) on 4 May 1909.

When he was 101 he could still mow the grass, work in the garden, feed the chickens and sometimes cook lunch for himself and his daughter Ana. He was a widower for more than 20 years. He was engaged in agriculture and viticulture, raising cattle.

He became the oldest known living man in Croatia, following the death of 105-year-old Andrija Prlic on 2 July 2013.

Nikola Barkovic died in the village Draganic, Karlovac County, Croatia on 4 May 2016 at the age of 106 years, 213 days. Following his death, then-105-year-old Sime Petrovic became the oldest known living man in Croatia.
