Noemi Anderson (née Bernard; 28 September 1897 – 20 April 2009) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest known living person in the U.S. state of California, behind Gertrude Baines.

Biography[]

Noemi Anderson was born in The Dalles, Oregon, USA on 28 September 1897, the daughter of French immigrants. She grew up on a ranch in Oregon. She studied at the University of Oregon, then at UC Berkeley.

She set out to become a history teacher and was offered her first job in Point Arena, on the Mendocino Coast. Later, she moved on to schools in Healdsburg, Salinas and, finally, Hanford.

She married Henry Anderson and had one child: Janice Brungardt, who died in 2001.

She lived at Sunrise Senior Living Home in Petaluma, California.

Anderson died after suffered a fall in Petaluma, California, USA on 20 April 2009 at the age of 111 years, 204 days. She was survived by her grandson Bill Brungardt, her granddaughter Marianne Smith, two other grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
