Novak Bojanic [Montenegrin: Novak Bojanić, Montenegrin Cyrillic: Новак Бојанић] (14 January 1920 – 15 March 2025) was a Montenegrin centenarian who was the oldest known living man in Montenegro at the time of his death.

Biography[]

Novak Bojanić was born in the village of Brežine, Podgorica Municipality, Brežine, Podgorica Municipality, Kingdom of Yugoslavia (now Montenegro), on 14 January 1920.

On 6 October 1947, he married his wife Vasiljka, after which they continued their life with Novak's family in Kosovo and Metohija, in the village of Jagoda, Klina Municipality, Peć District. Novak, in addition to working on the family farm, which was large, equally performed the function of the president of the municipality of Klina for two mandates, and was also a member of parliament in the regional committee of Kosovo in Priština. On the other hand, his wife Vasiljka, like most women of that era, was the pillar of the house, she took care of the household and of the three children who were educated and taken out on the road. They built a family house in Peć, Peć District, which they still decided to sell, and left the area of ​​Kosovo in the late 1970s and returned to their homeland, due to events that had their epilogue two decades later.

On 14 January 2020, he celebrated his 100th birthday, becoming a centenarian. On the same day, his wife Vasiljka celebrated her 91st birthday, as she was born on the same day, in 1929, in the same village. They were married for 77 years, until his death.

On 9 January 2023, following the death of 103-year-old Veliša Stanković, he became the oldest known living man in Montenegro.

Novak Bojanić died in Podgorica, Podgorica Municipality, Montenegro, on 15 March 2025, at the age of 105 years, 60 days. Following his death, then 103-year-old Novak Marković became the oldest known living man in Montenegro.
