Obdulia Carpena Gascon (Spanish: Gascón; 29 November 1910 – 19 June 2023) was a Spanish supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) on 9 April 2021.
Biography[]
Obdulia Carpena Gascon was born in Yecla, Murcia, Spain on 29 November 1910. At the age of 14, her mother died, and she grew up with her father and sister from there on.
She married Miguel Crespo Diaz in 1932. She became a widow at a young age, and never had children. Reportedly, she has lived a good life and was always surrounded by her nephews, despite witnessing difficult moments in her life.
Normally, her nephews would organize a party during her birthday every year, but on her 110th birthday in 2020, they weren't able to do that due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Carpena Gascon died in Yecla, Murcia, Spain on 19 June 2023 at the age of 112 years, 202 days. At the time of her death, she was the oldest known living person in Murcia, and the third-oldest known living person in Spain, behind Maria Branyas Morera and Silveria Martin Diaz.
