Ollie Lawson (21 November 1913 – 11 December 2024) was an American supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG).
Biography[]
Ollie Lawson was born on 21 November 1913 in Thomas County, Georgia, USA. She had six siblings: two sisters and four brothers. She grew up on a farm and attended a segregated school. Ollie left school after the sixth grade to work on the farm and do house cleaning. When she turned 18, she moved to Miami, Florida, for more opportunities. She met her future husband, Birden Lawson, there. They married and had one daughter, Mildren.
At some point, the family moved to Bridgeport and then Stratford, Connecticut, where she served as deaconess at the First Baptist Church for 24 years. In 1950, Ollie lived with her husband Birden, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, she lived at 296 Seaview Avenue. She was a Mould Filler at the time for Rubbe Products. 1950 census here (subscription needed).
Ollie Lawson died in Easton, Pennsylvania, USA on 11 December 2024 at the age of 111 years, 20 days. She was one of the oldest known living people in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania at the time of her death.
