Olympe Amaury (née Vignel; 19 June 1901 – 12 May 2015)[1] was the oldest living person in France. She was also the second-oldest living person in Europe behind Emma Morano of Italy, and the 12th-oldest living person in the world.

Biography[]

Olympe Vignel was born in Tracy-sur-Loire, France on 19 June 1901. She married Gaspard Bernard Amaury in Tracy sur Loire on 31 May 1924. She had 4 children (Ginette, Jacques, Michel and Claude). From 2003 until her death she lived in a retirement home in Amilly. She had 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.[2][3] Her sister Yvonne Dupuy (1894–1996) lived to be 101.

She died at the age of 113 years and 327 days on 12 May 2015.[4] Following her death the oldest French person was Eudoxie Baboul of French Guiana.[5]
