Olympe Pidancet (née Jacotot; 24 January 1897 – 19 February 2009) was a French supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). At the time of her death, she was the second-oldest living person in France, after Eugenie Blanchard. She was also the oldest living person in metropolitan France.
Biography[]
Olympe Pidancet was born in Auxerre, Yonne, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte, France on 24 January 1897. Her parents were Eugene Jacotot (1874–?) and Francoise Dupuis (1887–1968). She had at least two sisters: Lucienne and Charlotte.
On 27 March 1921, Pidancet married Arthur Morin (1897–1966) in Germany. They had at least a child, and later divorced. She remarried Louis Pidancet on 23 January 1939 in Dijon, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte.
Following the death of 113-year-old Clementine Solignac on 25 May 2008, Pidancet became the oldest living person in metropolitan France, as well as the second-oldest living person in France. At the time, she was living in a nursing home in Lyon.
Her age was verified by Luc Le Lay, and validated by the GRG on 30 January 2009.
Olympe Pidancet died in the 8th district of Lyon, Rhone (now Metropole de Lyon), Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, France on 19 February 2009, at the age of 112 years, 26 days. At the time of her death, she was the last surviving person in France born in 1897.
