Ana Pastora Castro Bedoya de Rios (Spanish: Ríos; 11 May 1908 – 30 May 2018) was a Colombian supercentenarian whose age was validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG) in 2022.

Biography[]

Ana Pastora Castro Bedoya was born in the rural sector of Pontezuela, Rionegro, Antioquia Department, Colombia on 11 May 1908 to Jesus Castro Ríos and Salome Bedoya Gallego. She had 6 brothers. In her youth, she enjoyed to go play and take baths in the Pontezuela stream and also riding horse in the fields. Before getting married, she use to go with her fiancee to the nearly town of La Ceja by horse. She enjoyed to drink the traditional colombian drink ''Aguardiente'' and she claimed her secret for her longevity was always washing her face with cold water, rather than warm one. She was a devout Catholic.

Pastora raised nine children: Otilia, Alfredo, Lucas, Eduardo, Hernan, Edelmira, Octavio, Gabelo and Jesus Adan. On her 110th birthday in 2018, only her two daughters, Edelmira and Otilia, were still alive, and she had 33 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild. Her daughter claimed that she lived her long life because she was always very welcoming to everyone, always offering ''aguapanela'' to every person who passed near her house.

Pastora died in Pontezuela, Rionegro, Antioquia, Colombia on 30 May 2018 at the age of 110 years, 19 days.
