Paulina Prodan (20 August 1907 – 5 November 2012) was a Croatian centenarian who was the oldest known living person in Croatia at the time of her death. She was also the second-oldest Croatian-born person behind Santa Kustera.

Biography[]

Paulina Prodan was born in Blatna Vas, Istria County, Austria-Hungary (now Croatia) on 20 August 1907, as the third of eight children in the family of Toni Bencic and Franica (née Gržinić) Bencic.

She married Emilijo Prodan from Nova Vas in Porec, who was a colonel at the Basharinka station in 1933. The couple had three children: Alma, Steli and Aldo.

In the second half of the 1930s, she moved to the Zatika station in Porec, and later to the town itself. She got widowed around 1982. Her youngest Aldo died in 2007.

As of August 2007, she had one living sister Aneta, who lives in Rijeka, six living grandchildren (one deceased) and nine great-grandchildren.

She became the oldest known living person in Croatia following the death of 106-year-old Mateo Palaversic in September 2012.

Prodan died in Porec, Istria County, Croatia on 5 November 2012 at the age of 105 years, 78 days. Following her death, then 105-year-old Izolda Krmpotic became the oldest known living person in Croatia.
