Pearl Lutzko (née Ewanik; 15 February 1899 – 2 November 2011) was a Ukrainian-Canadian supercentenarian whose age is validated by the Gerontology Research Group (GRG). She is the second-oldest Ukrainian-born person ever, behind Goldie Michelson.
Biography
Pearl Lutzko was born in Chortkiv, Russian Empire (now Ukraine) on 15 February 1899. After the death of her parents' remarriage, she and her family moved to Canada. She married John Lutzko on June 12, 1915 with whom she would have seven children.
Her children were: Nick Edward Lutzko (9 December 1916 - 27 January 2011), Henry Lutzko (12 November 1918 - 16 August 1944), Joseph Lutzko (29 August 1920 - 18 October 1998), Pauline Schinborn (née Lutzko; born 20 June 1922), Rose Konjolka (née Lutzko; 10 October 1924 - 4 November 2023), Allan Lutzko (19 April 1927 - 11 November 2020) and Edward John Lutzko (21 November 1935 - 8 August 2019)
They would farm land in Goodeve, Saskatchewan until 1959, when they moved to Ituna. She was an avid gardener growing a garden every year until the age of 103 years.
Following the death of Margaret Fitzgerald on 20 October 2009, she became the oldest living person in Canada.
Lutzko died in Ituna, Saskatchewan, Canada on 2 November 2011 at the age of 112 years, 260 days. She had 29 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
