Petar Grujic [Montenegrin: Петар Грујић] (10 November 1914 – 16 May 2021) was a Montenegrin centenarian who was the oldest known living man and person in Montenegro at the time of his death.

Biography[]

Petar Grujic was born in the small village of Pavlicic, municipality of Podgorica, Kingdom of Montenegro (now Montenegro) on 10 November 1914.

He spent his entire working life in the Yugoslav Railways. During the period, he was one of the main actors who advocated for the construction of the railway on the Belgrade-Bar route.

At the age of 102, he could still cut wood with a chainsaw and do all the chores around the house and yard. In an interview for "Blic" in March 2016, he stated that his longevity was due to the fact that he never drank alcohol or smoked cigarettes, healthy food, clean air and as much time as possible in nature.

He became the oldest known living man in Montenegro, following the death of 109-year-old Bozo Colovic on 6 December 2018. Following the death of 108-year-old Bozana Mandalinic on 11 May 2020, he became the oldest known living person in Montenegro. He was also the last known surviving man from Montenegro who was born in the 1910s decade.

Petar Grujic died in the village of Klopot, Pavlicic hamlet near Podgorica, Montenegro on 16 May 2021 at the age of 106 years, 187 days. Following his death, then 104-year-old Mileva Tomovic became the oldest known living person in Montenegro.
